Nokia N95 vs MotoZN5 comparison: Camera n basic specs

Wednesday, November 19, 2008 8:46

Many of us are searching a mobile phone that can do more than just making calls or receiving calls. In this digital era, people tend to look for feature-packed phones, and among those features, we can say that camera is a powerful feature. It is obvious since many of us won’t bother to bring a digital camera and a cell phone. Therefore I present you the Nokia N95 8GB and MotoZN5 comparison. I got this comparison from our friends at the phonereport. There will be many pictures, so please feast your eyes :) Enjoy, Folks!

It is so, because users want to take high-quality pictures with the only device that is most of the time, if not always, in their pockets. Very few people carry their point-and-shoot cameras everywhere, but most have their phones with them 24/7. The worse picture is the one that you didn’t take because you didn’t have anything to take the picture with, but this is not the case with phones since they are always there replacing the absent camera.

Today I will bring you the camera comparison between two of the best camera-phones of each manufacturer’s portfolio, the N95 8GB from Nokia and the ZN5 Kodak from Motorola.

First I will briefly compare the specifications of each phone.

The Motorola ZN5 is a quad-band GSM unit, it lacks 3G but adds WI-FI for a fast internet experience. Has a 2.4” QVGA resolution display, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, and a 3.5mm Audio Jack with support for TV-OUT. The ZN5 does not have mass built-in memory, but has a microSD slot that supports cards up to 4GB. Its battery will last 580h in stand-by mode and 9h 30min of talking time. It runs Linux and its price ranges from US$300-US$350 for the unlocked model, but can be acquired for US$99 in a T-Mobile contract. The ZN5 has the CrystalTalk technology which reduces noise during calls.

The Nokia N95 8GB is a quad-band GSM and dual-band 3G unit, has Wi-Fi, supports Flash Lite 3 and WRT in its default Web Browser. Has a 2.8” QVGA resolution screen, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP and a 3.5mm Audio Jack with support for TV-OUT. Unlike the ZN5, the N95 8GB includes a built-in GPS receiver with voice-guided navigation. The N95 8GB has 8GB of built-in memory but it is non expandable. Battery will last 280h for stand-by and 6h of talking time. It runs S60 on Symbian OS and its price ranges from US$500-US$630, and unfortunately the N95 8GB is not available at any US carrier.

Asus P565: Fastest Phone Ever Created to Date?

Monday, November 17, 2008 18:57
Posted in category Cell Phones, Fresh News

Many people think that ASUS will have a hard, rough road if they want to be a leading phone manufacturer. I guess they’re right, for now. It seems that ASUS is trying to shake the mobile phone industry with their latest phone, so called Asus P565. And what’s so special about this handset anyway? Well, as a start it is the fastest business PDA phone ever created on the globe with its 800Mhz Marvell CPU. Or so Asus said.

The fastest phone that is now listed at the Asus site has a Glide UI toting HSDPA, and it will run on Windows Mobile 6.1 OS. It also brings the user a 2.8 inch touch-screen, 802.11 b/g, Bluetooth 2.0, 256MB flash memory and 128MB DDR SDRAM, and microSD slot with SFHC support. Nothing really new here but at least the P565 is now official even though there is still a lack of availability and price.

Top 20 iPhone Apps: Best n Must-Have Softwares in iPhone

Saturday, November 15, 2008 20:43
Posted in category Cell Phones, Fresh News, software

Hello there, iPhone users… I have an interesting list here :)

As you all know that Apple iPhone 3G has become a hit now and one of the best part of the iPhone is the App Store. Yep, that’s the place where you search iPhone apps. However, in that software shop you might find it difficult to decide which apps you want for your iPhone due to the enormous number of Apps. But don’t worry, guys…our friends at Gizmodo have listed 20 most-wanted, must-have softwares in iPhone. Let’s check it out then, shall we?

  1. Pageonce Personal Assistant: Combines myriad online accounts, from banking and investing to bill paying to airline frequent fliers. Rather than hit 15 different sites for your montly bill pay/pain time, use this single app.
  2. AOL Radio: Four letters: KCRW. AOL Radio pipes in the legendary LA station and for this we are thankful.
  3. Fring: The only IM/messaing client you need. Covers Google Talk, AIM, Skype, MSN, Yahoo, ICQ, Twitter, plus VoIP calls over Wi-Fi if you’re low on minutes at home or in the coffee shop.
  4. Remote: One of the first apps we saw, and still among the best in terms of usefulness. If you use iTunes frequently at home and especially if you listen away from your desk via a stereo hookup or Airport Express, you need the Remote
  5. AirSharing: Our favorite file storage app—shoots files to the iPhone’s flash memory via Wi-Fi for storage, transport, and easy retrieval.
  6. Yelp: Taps into Yelp’s community reviews to find good bars and restaurants based on your location. Essential for cities like San Francisco and New York where Yelp reviews are solid. When I’m out in the city and need a drink ASAP or the restaurant I was planning on going is too crowded/sucks, Yelp is what I reach for
  7. Routesy: Can’t live in San Francisco without this app. I use it everyday to see when trains / busses are coming. Even if I am sitting at my computer I choose to look up the train / buss schedule via Routesy on my iPhone because it’s just that much simpler.
  8. City Transit: Ditto here for NYC. Even for locals, quick access to a subway map is always a good thing, plus constantly changing service outages are impossible to keep track of, without an app like this. And if you’re feeling old-timey, a vintage MTA map is here too
  9. Pandora: Best internet radio app, hands down. Smartly auto-suggests music based on other artists you like. Both on the go and while at home. Streams well over EDGE and 3G. Free. What more could you ask for?
  10. VNC Lite: View and fully control my computer from anywhere, as long as I am on the same network. So I can basically be at my computer without actually being at my computer…
  11. PanoLab: Who knew multitouch is the perfect interface for stitching photos together into panoramas? It is. Plus if the photo you just took doesn’t work, toss it out and take another one immediately. A paid version adds even more features.
  12. Bloom: Generative, ambient music by Brian Eno. If I need to say more, it’s also a mini-sequencer: Drop your finger on the liquidy pastel screen, play a note, make simple loops. Music For Airports that you can make yourself. In an airport, even.
  13. Shazam: This just doesn’t get old: hold your phone to the air to grab the song playing at the supermarket (or being hummed by your friend), and have it identified in a few seconds. We live in a privileged age.
  14. Simplify Media: Stream your home machine’s iTunes library and those of up to 30 friends to your phone. This app lives up to its name. Forget worries of filling up 8GB, or even 16.
  15. Galcon: It’s Risk, but in space, and instead of six hours it takes two minutes and you don’t have to be shitfaced to enjoy it.
  16. i.TV: Provides you with an elegant TV guide, movie listings and showtimes, and Netflix queue management all in one app.
  17. MotionX Poker: The dice rolling in MotionX Poker is one of the most accurate and painstakingly simulated dice physics engines ever built. And it shows. Not a substitute for real dice behind your neighborhood bodega, but the closest thing possible.
  18. Snow Reports: If you fait du ski/snowboard, Snow Reports will let you know when you should drop everything and head to Alpine Mountain for the weekend.
  19. Google Earth: The same amazing Earth touring app found on the desktop, now spinnable via multi touch. Honestly if someone told me two years ago I would have a functional Google Earth app on my phone, I wouldn’t have believed them. This is now.
  20. Sketches: Brian likes this app because deep down, he’s just a Japanese schoolgirl who wants to slap sticker graphics on photos of his dog. If you share this desire, Sketches: it’s for you too.

Any thing missed, people? Tell me your fave apps then… :D

Posted in category Cell Phones, Fresh News

The Nokia E71 has once again gained another award! After the Mobile Choice UK touted E71 as the “Phone of the Year” and “Best Smartphone of the Year”, this time WIRED magazine have awarded the “smart simplicity” phone as the “Test Best Cell Phone”. It’s just amazing, I have to say.

The Nokia E71 have many features and it aims business users. Some of the features are Wi-Fi, 3G, Bluetooth, and an Infrared port. It comes with numerous applications  pre-installed such as Quickoffice v.4.5, barcode scanner, web browser, and PDF reader among others.

These awards speak for themselves; this device is fantastic. Especially after installing applications such as Gmail, Google Maps, Opera Mini, Mobbler and many more, which have made it more useful for daily activities. If you are interested in acquiring this phone, you should read the review for a broader perspective on the E71.

Nokia is a Finnish company which has been in the telecommunications sector for many years. They introduced E-series devices on October 2005 with the E60, E61 and E70. Nokia has been improving these high-end devices ever since. These smartphones have exquisite designs and various communication options intended for the business consumer.

Anyway, another Nokia phone that won an award is the N82 which won the ‘Test Best Camera Phone’ award. Here’s a quote:

Nokia E63 Vs Nokia E71 Comparison: What’s exactly the difference?

Saturday, November 15, 2008 17:59

Several days ago Nokia has officially announced the Nokia E63. Lots of people are saying that the Nokia E63 is the cheaper version of the Nokia E71. So, in short the E63 has lower functionality and lower price compared to the award winning E71 . But how different are these siblings are? Well, I have found an interesting articles that have listed the differences and without no further delay, here are the Nokia E63 vs Nokia E71 Comparison :

* The E63 has a colored plastic shell versus the E71’s metal one. The front is a metallic-finish, whilst the back cover is a soft-touch finish - both attract far few fingerprints than the E71’s.

* The E63 is nearly identical in dimensions to the E71 except for the depth - the E63 is around 1.5 times the depth of the E71.

* The E63 has a 3.5mm jack on top versus the E71’s 2.5mm jack on the side. This appears to be the first E-series to have a standard headphone socket - something normally saved for N-series.

* The E63 has no side buttons for volume or voice recording. It’s also missing the E71’s IR window.

* The E63 has a revised keyboard layout, adding a ‘/’ button on the lower row, shortening the space bar.

* The E63 appears to have a slightly smaller dimension screen although it is the same 320 by 240 pixels as the E71.

* The E63 lacks internal GPS.

* The E63 does not support HSDPA data.

* The E63 has the same 110 meg internal memory, but is shipped without an additional memory card (although a slot to add one is present).

* The E63 has a 2MP camera versus the E71’s 3.2MP and has a fixed focus.

* The E63 adds a flashlight function that allows the camera’s LED flash to be used as a torch.

* The E63 lacks the E71’s faux-leather slip case.

And here’s the key business features still present in the E63:

* WiFi
* 3G (there had been some rumours this was 2G only)
* Microsoft Exchange sync via MailForExchange
* Expandable memory
* Fast operation and stable S60 3rd Edition FP1 OS
* Pre-installed QuickOffice
* E-series security and encryption functions
* Huge 1500mAh battery

Freeware: Download Opera Mini 4.2 Beta Mobile Browser

Tuesday, November 11, 2008 16:42
Posted in category Freeware, software

There are many news about browser around lately, aren’t they? Just a while ago I posted a heartbreaking news about the divorce of Android OS and Fennec and the Opera Mini for Android G1. Now prepare for the arrival of the Opera Mini 4.2 Beta!!! You can download Opera Mini 4.2 Beta version by following the link under this post.

I guess all of us agree that the Opera Mini is the most famous mobile browser to date, and Opera claimed that each month, unique downloads of Opera Mini reached 20 million. Woooowww….That’s 12 x 20 million = 240,000,000 unique downloads a year!

They’ve created a bit of a song and dance over this preview with more customised new skins, and better support for mobile video services such as YouTube.

Other improvements relate to Opera Link, which allows phone users to share notes, bookmarks, and browsing history between their mobile phones and their PCs.

Opera has also upped the browsing and loading performance by introducing a new server in the US of A. This is coupled with reducing the load on servers elsewhere in the world, therefore making it faster everywhere else too. Isn’t that just wonderful.

They believe they’ve seen an average growth of 10% in users of Opera Mini every month on a global basis. As their browser just keeps on improving in speed and functionality, Opera expects Mini’s popularity to just keep growing. Hurrah!

It’s around now to download in a standard version in both JAR and JAD formats, and is also around for BlackBerrys and Palms too.

Here are the download Opera Mini 4.2 links:

Point your phone’s browser to mini.opera.com/beta to download the beta version of Opera Mini 4.2.

Opera Mini 4.2 beta installs next to any existing stable Opera Mini version on your device and will not overwrite any of your data.

Alternatively, you may download Opera Mini to your computer for a manual installation.
