Linux has come to iPhone!

I never thought that it will be this fast that Linux has come to the iPhone. This is what you call a great news.
Recently I just got an information that the famous open source OS has been ported to iPhone and iPod touch. But of course, at this point of time you cannot expect much of it. Anyway, according to my source, the rough first draft of iPhone linux still have many drivers missing. But don’t get too dissapointed, guys, the presence of this linux on iPhone is a great first step, right?
What we have:
- Framebuffer driver
- Serial driver
- Serial over USB driver
- Interrupts, MMU, clock, etc.
What we have in openiboot (but hasn’t been ported yet):
- Read-only support for the NAND
What we don’t have (yet!):
- Write support for the NAND
- Wireless networking
- Touchscreen
- Sound
- Accelerometer
- Baseband support
The current userland we’re using, in the interest of expedience, is a Busybox installation created with buildroot, but glibc works fine as well, and we’re going to build a more permanent userland solution.
