The screen orientation changes of the T-Mobile G1 will shift from portrait to landscape each time you slide out the keyboard. However, you won’t get the same reaction if you simply turn the T-Mobile G1 in your hand. But there’s a possibility that the auto-rotation feature will be available soon, since it is being developed. Isn’t that great? You can see the demo of it under by following the link I provide you

In the video, you’ll notice that when the device is turned, the screen turns… Turn it back to its original orientation, and it turns back. Simple. But handy.

Apparently this feature is already claimed to be part of the SDK, so developers will simply need to unlock the new feature for their app. Stay tuned for more apps and games coming to the G1 with auto-rotation built in… But this all kind of makes me wonder why this wasn’t built-into the original Android OS in the first place?
