Rafe on allaboutsymbian.com has made video taken from Sony Ericsson Vivaz and Sony Ericsson Vivaz Pro which give you clearer description of new Symbian^1 handset. This time is about several key designs of both handsets including materials, effect of light reflection plus human curvature.

* Both phones are fits to your hand. This is the mean of ‘human curvature’ design on them.

* Vivaz has effect of ‘light touched’ comes from certain ‘polarising’ paint. Thru the light touched area the phone looks smaller than it actually is.

* The other is light reflection located on the device’s side makes the phone look slimmer.

* Vivaz is featured with glass screen so the phone will be thinner and offers good quality of touch sensitivity than the common used in resistive screen, plastic.

* Vivaz Pro has lower res of camera and also smaller battery so the phone looks thin. In the term of camera Vivaz Pro using 5 Mpx snapper instead of 8Mpx snapper.

* Vivaz has 4 colors include Blue, Silver, Black and Ruby.

[Phone Specification and Review] HTC Legend Review

This time is about HTC Legend. In the comparison with HTC Hero, Legend has some key changes and some more forthright features. HTC Legend is equipped with with a 3.2-inch HVGA display, similar to HTC Hero, but the difference is Legend using an AMOLED panel and Hero is LCD.

The other similarity is the 5 MPx camera with autofocus. Now the Legend’s camera comes along with a LED flash.

In the term of processor, Legend using Qualcomm’s 600MHz MSM7227 while Hero chooses a 528MHz chipset. Of course Legend gets speed increase but still not better than 1GHz Snapdragon on the Google Nexus One and HTC’s own Desire.

Although Legend is not on the top of HTC’s Android (the current position is taken by Desire), but it is impressive, more attractive as well as pocket friendly than Desire. Equipped with Sense – Friend Stream, it feels clever and has more functionality.

Being the mid range device, Legend has stepped forward to the better design and quality.

Finally Motorola Backflip has been available. With the price tag of $99.99 it can be got through AT&T. The price $99.99 is after MIR and with 2 yr contract. Motorola Blackflip is the first Android smartphone from AT&T.

Motorola Blackflip is a first offer from the carrier. The other 5 Android devices will soon be available such as Dell Mini 3 and some HTC models. They will be scheduled on the first half of 2010 and perhaps during the CTIA Wireless ( Las Vegas).

Just several days ago we presented a review on the Sony Ericsson Vivaz, and we find the Sony Ericsson Vivaz is a very interesting high-end touchscreen phone with a very nice style and camera result. Today we will do a comparison between the Sony Ericsson Vivaz vs Samsung Omnia HD vs Sony Ericsson Satio vs Samsung Jet. We will focus the comparison on camera capabilities and the touchscreen comparison.

Sony Ericsson Vivaz vs Samsung i8910 Omnia HD

It is a destined comparison. The reason? Both of Sony Ericsson Vivaz and Samsung Omnia HD has a Symbian OS and 720p video, making them a bitter rival. Samsung Omnia HD was released months before the Sony Ericsson Vivaz. Samsung Omnia HD does have some problems at launch, such as audio quality and framerate issues in videos. But since it’s been a while since the launch, Samsung have managed to fix the audio problem by switching to AAC, but video is still struggling to make it to 24 frames per second.

In the opposite side of the ring we have the Sony Ericsson Vivaz. We already aware that the Vivaz has some issues as well, but it is capable of delivering all 24 fps – and the HD video recording is quite promising. In addition, the Symbian UI in the Sony Ericsson Vivaz also feels more refined and smooth. Simple yet effective placement of phone functionality on the home screen is nice, and there’s also the custom media menu. I also think that the Sony Ericsson Vivaz’s design is better compared to the Samsung Omnia HD

Sony Ericsson Vivaz vs Sony Ericsson Satio

Most of the Sony Ericsson Vivaz’s functionality can also be found in the Sony Ericsson Satio. Based on the design, they also have some resemblances. The difference is that the Vivaz has a more curved top and bottom. Another difference is the screen size. Vivaz has 3.2″ screen, while the Satio has 3.5″ screen. However, the Vivaz won in the video recording capabilities, since the Satio can only capture VGA@30fps. However, the Satio has 12MP still shots. Satio still lives in a FastPort world though, so finding a good pair of headphones might be a problem.

Sony ericsson Vivaz vs Samsung S8000 Jet

We have to admit that Samsung S8000 Jet has one of the best touchscreen display out there. The Sony Ericsson Vivaz does have a slightly bigger screen, but the Samsung Jet has 480 x 800 pixels resolution. And for the record, it also uses AMOLED screen (SE Vivaz only uses resistive TFT screen with 640 x 360 pixels) so the Samsung Jet really does have a great pixel density.

However, in terms of camera Sony Ericsson Vivaz outrun the Samsung Jet big time. The Samsung S8000 Jet has only 5 megapixels and D1@30fps to offer. Another problem with the Samsung Jet is that it doesn’t have the flexibility of a smartphone, even though it has a SatNav software and a document viewer.

Sony Ericsson Vivaz Design review

Sony Ericsson Vivaz has a standard design for a touchscreen phone. It has a large touchscreen display with nHD resolution (360 x 640 pixels) and three buttons bellow. Compared to the Sony ericsson Satio, the Sony Ericsson Vivaz is pretty similar but the top and bottom part is more curved. The material used for the Vivaz’s case is mostly plastics, but surprisingly it is very good and solid. All in all, it’s a well-built handset using quality plastics. Compact and lightweight, the Vivaz is a very friendly device, and beautifully styled too.

Sony Ericsson Vivaz Display review

As we’ve mentioned before, the 3.2″ resistive touchscreen has 640 x 360 pixel resolution and 16 Million colors. It has nice picture quality with excellent contrast for a TFT unit. Resistive displays generally need more pressure to get a click registered. As we found out though, the Vivaz screen response is excellent. The resistive technology is certainly not a drawback here. Unfortunately, the sunlight legibility is poor – the Vivaz does slightly better than the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, which has a screen with the same size, resolution and touch technology.

Sony ericsson Vivaz loud speaker and audio review

Our folks at gsmarena have conducted a loudspeaker test for the Vivaz. And the result is not so good. Compared to other phone such as Acer NeoTouch, Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, SE Satio, and HTC Touch HD, the sony ericsson vivaz loudspeaker fall behind.

The Sony Ericsson Vivaz isn’t the loudest of them handset as far as headphones volume is concerned. However when subjected to our traditional audio quality test it showed a decent overall performance with even a few excellent marks here and there. The noise level, dynamic range and stereo crosstalk are particularly impressive, while the distortion levels are both pretty decent.

The cut-off extreme bass frequencies are the only slight shortfall of the Vivaz frequency response. However it is excellent for the rest of the audible range so no biggie.

Sony Ericsson Vivaz Camera and Image Review

The Sony Ericsson Vivaz packs an 8-megapixel camera and is capable of taking photos of up to 3264 x 2448 pixels. It also sports a LED flash, but its serves video better than the still images. The interface is quite comfortable. In the options you’ll find several features such as self-timer, white balance, flash on/off, effects, image stabilizer and picture size.

Regarding the image quality, Sony Ericsson Vivaz produces splendid photos. The colors are vibrant and rich (too bad we don’t have the weather to prove it), the amount of resolved detail is very good and the noise levels are low. Overall the image quality is very impressive!

Sony Ericsson Vivaz main disadvantages:

No camera lens protection
No auto mode for the flash/video light
LED flash not powerful enough
The S60 5th edition UI isn’t to the best in class standards
No proximity sensor sensor to lock the screen during a call
No DivX or XviD support out-of-the-box
No smart or voice dialing
No office document editing (without a paid upgrade)
No stereo speakers
No digital compass (magnetometer)
Videocalling uses only the main camera (no secondary one)
