[Phone Review] Samsung Moment Android Smartphone

The Samsung Moment Android Smartphone can be yours for $179.99 after a $50 instant savings and a $100 mail-in-rebate with a two-year service agreement…
Anyway, I just got a review from our folks at the Slashgear, and I am here to make the review short for you, my beloved readers
Check it out after the break

Samsung Moment Keyboard Review
On the first sight, the folks at slashgear are obviously impressed with the keyboard… But it seems that when it comes to usage, the keyboard is not as nice as the look. The frustrating positioning of the space bar and the Fn key is making the bottom row can be quite annoying. But the upper rows of the keyboard are great.
Samsung Moment AMOLED Display and Optical Trackpad Review
Considering the AMOLED display, the black colors in this Samsung Moment is a bit inkier then the regular LCD TFT phones. Regarding the colors, it stands out. About the Optical Trackpad, the Moment can be easy to use but sometimes it can also be annoying, since it seems that the pad goes all-or-nothing from one side to another.
Samsung Moment Camera Review
The Moment has a 3.2 Megapixel camera, added with autofocus and LED flash. However, these days a 3.2 megapixel camera is not that special; and even though the Samsung Moment has autofocus and LED flash, the images resulted seems to be in mediocre quality, with high levels of noise that the contrast-rich display did little to disguise. Perhaps in the next Android update (from 1.5 to 2.0) the Samsung Moment camera can be improved, since the Android 2.0 support white balance, color effect, macro focus and scene support. One thing that makes the camera is a bit disappointing is the camera lag when shooting images…
Conclusion:
QWERTY-packing Android smartphones are certainly a little rarer than their touchscreen-only counterparts, but we’d still have second thoughts about picking the Samsung Moment. While its AMOLED display is bright and clear and its keyboard pleasantly expansive (once you’ve retrained your fingers to deal with its offset layout) its stock Android 1.5 OS pales in comparison to what other manufacturers are doing to distinguish their rival handsets. Most damning, though, is the price: Sprint will ask $179.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate and presuming a new, two-year agreement when the Moment arrives on November 1st. That’s perilously close to the $199.99 of the Verizon DROID by Motorola, and right now we can’t find enough to recommend the Samsung over the new Motorola.
[Thanks a lot, Slashgear!]

I’m in Marin County just North of the Golden Gate. I’ve had my Samsung Moment for a week and love it. Will be searching the forum SamsungMomentForum.com to solve what looks like the common problem of short battery life that I’m experiencing, and get advice on apps and accessories, I also have a CE and Mobile technology mktg consulting company so might be asking for your input on some future usage and technologies coming out. Thanks for posting this.
