Did you read my post about Samsung Pixon is about to enter U.S. market? Well, as I said earlier it seems that AT&T won’t be the one who get the Pixon. But apparently, a new rumor (or should we say, fact) said that AT&T have prepared another phone to compete with T-Mobile’s Samsung Pixon: it’s gonna be Samsung Memoir.

FCC has approved a similar 8-megapixel camera phone with the codename Memoir. It’s real model name is actually the SGH-T929 which is basically one and the same as the Pixon. Previous reports revealed that T-Mobile will launch it as the Leica, but now it seems that it will carry the Memoir name. Unlike the Pixon of AT&T, the Memoir comes with 1700MHz HSDPA connectivity. The touchscreen display, 8-megapixel camera with autofocus, Bluetooth 2.0, and A-GPS are still there, but other features are yet to be known.

So it’s now confirmed that two carriers will be releasing almost identical 8-megapixel phones in the US. The question now is; who will be the one to release theirs first? Rumor is that T-Mobile will have the Memoir ready by February 2009. No word yet from AT&T, but with this latest development, we won’t be surprised by a sudden announcement.
