Listen up, people! Those who are owning Blackberry 8000 or 9000 series smartphone should read this. If you want to use different SIM card in your phone, you can do it for free with this free software. The software is called the MFI Multiloader, and what you have to do is just download the 800MB of files from Rapidshare

Once downloaded, install the application then run Desktop Manager, upgrade the operating system, and your done, now your BlackBerry can use any SIM card.

Make sure your vendor.xml file is deleted in the apploader folder when Desktop Manager 4.7.0.32 is installed. Now this is ideal for stormers to unlock the BlackBerry Storm either 9500 or 9530, and the BlackBerry Pearl 8100, 8110, 8120, 8130, and the BlackBerry Curve 86300, 8310, 8320, and possibly the 8350i. Oh and don’t forget the BlackBerry Bold and Pearl Flip 8220.

But get a move on because no doubt this will quickly be pulled by the legal bods out there. Find necessary files here If you dare.

Lately Blackberry have attracted all of us with their new handsets, which are the Bold and the Storm. I believe that many people who are common to these things are wondering what are exactly the differences of Blackberry Bold vs Blackberry Storm. Before we talked about the differences, let’s talk about the similarity. First of all, it came from the same manufacturer, and therefore it is not surprising how similar their features are.. Both Blackberry Bold and Blackberry Storm has HSDPA network, GPS, camera, BlackBerry OS, BlackBerry Maps, etc. But really, is there any other differences between the two blackberry devices besides of the Touchscreen and QWERTY keyboard? Let’s take a deeper look.

  • Network: Bold can work for HSDPA 850/1900/2100 (Triple Band HSDPA), while Storm can only work in HSDPA 2100 MHz frequency and CDMA2000 1x EV-DO (only for 9530 series)
  • Dimension and Weight: Bold has 114 x 66 x 14 mm and 133 grams, while Storm is heavier in 155 grams and 112.5 x 62.2 x 14 mm measurement
  • Display: Storm definitely outperform Bold with 360×480 pixels (3.25 inch) and Accelerometer sensor for auto-rotate. Bold in other side has 480×320 pixels, that I think sufficient enough
  • Wi-Fi: BlackBerry Bold has Wi-Fi, 802.11a/b/g, while BlackBerry Storm has not! Too bad! It’s a big minus for BlackBerry Storm, in my opinion.
  • Camera: Bold has 2 megapixels camera, while Storm has 3.15 megapixels camera. However, better resolution doesn’t mean better quality.. But what’s interesting is the Blackberry Storm’s touchscreen even work as autofocus :)
  • Music: Blackberry is not famous among music lovers due to the not-so-good audio performance, but the Storm and Bold got the same score here, since both of them has a standard audio jack, the 3.5mm jack.
  • Battery: Bold is equipped with Li-ion 1500 mAh, bigger than Storm that only has 1400 mAh. But Storm’s battery life is claimed to have better standby time and talktime. Does Storm has better battery management?
  • Price

Well, for many people (including me), one of the most important aspect of a cell phone is its price :D . So here’s the price comparison between Bold and Storm when I wrote this article (you can use it as a guide in the future, when the price drops). So I took the price comparison from Amazon, and various prices are offered for Bold and Storm. The Blackberry Bold’s price range is between $499-$550 for a new one. Meanwhile, Blackberry Storm has the highest price, which about $550 or so for a new one. Or perhaps if you follow the AT&T plan, you can get Blackberry Bold 9000 for $249.

What about people’s opinion about the Blackberry Bold and Storm’s Design, Features, and Performance?

Well, everyone has their own taste, I know. And therefore I’m gonna use the voting result from our folks at GSMarena to capture people’s opinion. You can see the Blackberry Bold and Storm score yourself

Blackberry Storm 9500

  • Design: 7.9
  • Features: 7.6
  • Performance: 7.6

Blackberry Bold 9000

  • Design: 8.4
  • Features: 8.4
  • Performance: 8.4

    Thanks, 3gweek!

Phones manufacturers had made many kinds of phone, but among those phones, there are few of them which are smarter than the others. However, our fellows at the cnet has compiled a comparison test over four of the ’smartest smartphones’ available to date. Please welcome the Nokia E71, Blackberry Bold 9000, HTC Touch Pro, and of course the Apple iPhone 3G. There will be side by side comparison between the Nokia E71vs Blackberry Bold 9000 vs HTC Touch Pro vs Apple iPhone 3G under this post, so keep on reading, guys..

Depending on your needs, you may find some smart phones more useful than others. Take touchscreen phones such as the iPhone 3G, for example — they’re excellent if you’re keen on a large screen for reading documents or watching videos, but not so great if you want to type out massive emails and aren’t used to using an onscreen keypad. Texters, stay away from the iPhone 3G :D

If the thought of fiddling around with a touchscreen sends shivers down your spine, don’t fear, because smartphones come in Qwerty keypad flavours too, such as the Nokia E71. While some prefer a large slide-out keypad that hides beneath a screen, others might enjoy the simplicity of a keypad on the front of the phone, right underneath the screen.

Keypads and screens aside, it’s a smart phone’s insides that give it its ’smart’ title and these days you can get almost everything you’d find in a laptop crammed into a tiny little phone. If it’s the Internet you’re after, keep an eye out for Wi-Fi and HSPDA (3.5G), and GPS if you’re planning on getting lost during your business travels.

Depending on your email needs, it’s always worth checking out whether the smart phone you’re about to buy is compatible with the office’s email system. It’s also worth looking at what documents the phone lets you view and edit, as some don’t support Microsoft documents, which may be annoying if you like to work on the go.

So yes, when you choose a smartphone, you should choose wisely. And in order to help you decide which smartphone is the best smartphone for you, here comes the comparison between Nokia E71 vs Blackberry Bold 9000 vs HTC Touch Pro vs Apple iPhone 3G! Enjoy, folks.

    Review summary

    We’ve been year-
    ning for a phone
    with a Qwerty
    keypad that looks
    good and works like
    it should, and here it
    is. The Nokia E71
    exceeded our
    expectations and is
    a great example of
    Nokia’s ability to
    combine ease of use
    with attractive
    design. While we
    don’t like the
    camera, we think
    the rest is pretty
    close to perfect

    Unlike Palm, RIM has
    built up an impressive
    product portfolio that
    is made even better
    by the addition of the
    Bold. Aside from
    offering a plethora of
    features, the Bold’s
    screen is one of the
    best we’ve ever seen

    This is HTC doing
    what it does well.
    The Touch Pro is
    another fully
    featured smart
    phone that deals
    with email and
text editing well. Our only disappointments
    are that the
    TouchFLO 3D
    interface can be
    slow at times and
    it isn’t as big an
    upgrade as we
    expected from the
    TyTN II

    Apple has taken
    the iPhone to the
    next level and
    added some truly
    mouth-watering
    features. 3G is
    lightning fast
    compared to
    EDGE, and GPS
    means you’ll never
    get lost again. You
    still can’t send
    MMS and there’s
    only a 2-megapixel
    camera, which may
    annoy you, but
    overall it’s a
    wonderful
    experience

Well, another Blackberry devices-related news. The Blackberry Javelin, or known as the Blackberry 8900 still lurking in the shadow, waiting for its November or December launch date. However, those who are fans of the Blackberry devices can order one on eBay. It will cost you around $950, tough. There’s also comparison pictures of the Javelin against the Bold, the Curve, and the iPhone. The biggest thing shown in the profiles here is that the headphone jack and new microUSB slot switched over to the right side.

When pitched against the Bold, the Javelin looks downright slim, and the Curve-style keyboard will certainly appeal to those who hated the BlackBerry 8800’s (and potentially the Bold’s). Still, you can see the family resemblance between the BlackBerry 8900 and the BlackBerry 9000 – word has it that the big difference is the lack of 3G in the Javelin. This is made up for by the 3.2 megapixel camera, which is a nice upgrade from the 2.0 megapixels BlackBerry’s been stuck on for some time now…  The screen resolution should be just as crisp as the Bold at 480 x 360, and with any luck, the stellar speaker quality will also be duplicated. If you’re not willing to shell out the big bucks for this pre-release, it should be available on Vodafone and Rogers before the end of the year.

If this thing is for real, then maybe Apple, Nokia, BlackBerry and Samsung will be left behind in technology. Is it the smartest smartphones or is it just a concept. No one knows for sure. The device is called the 01 Phone and according to the website at the the01phone.com, the 01 phone will be launched in less than 28 days. It is said that this device incorporates all those features missing from famed iPhone, Nokia N96, BlackBerry Bold, Samsung’s INNOV8 i850. The 01 will have a 5.0-megapixel camera, 3G internet, laser QWERTY keyboard, full touch-screen, forward facing camera for video calling, swanky headphones and 32GB internal memory. The appearance of the 01 appears tempting but it will take some time to reveal the actual mystery behind this phone.
