As you all might’ve aware, this year’s Mobile World Congress have unveiled some great phones with great specs and features. Those phones are the Sony Ericsson Idou, Samsung Omnia HD, and Nokia 5630 XpressMusic.

Sony Ericsson Idou has made some noises in the Mobile World Congress with its 12.1 megapixel camera. Sony Ericsson claimed the Sony Ericsson Idou as the first ‘Entertainment Unlimited’ phone, which combine Walkman series features and Cyber-Shot series features. Meanwhile, the Samsung i8910 Omnia HD is the successor of the famous Samsung Omnia. Samsung T929 Memoir  is the long rumored 8 megapixel cameraphone from Samsung. Lastly, the Nokia 5630 XM, which is the first phone in XpressMusic series to have N-Gage gaming system.

I know, I know…All of them are so darn attractive. So which one will you choose? Is it Sony ericsson Idou or Samsung Omnia HD or Samsung Memoir or Nokia 5630 XpressMusic? The comparison is made to help you decide which phone that you want in 2009. Let’s checkout the comparison between those phones under, shall we :) ?

Display

In this area, the Samsung Omnia HD has the biggest screen (3.7 inches of OLED Touchscreen, 16M colors) compared to SE Idou, Samsung Memoir and Nokia 5630 XpressMusic. The second position goes to the Idou, with 3.5 inches of TFT Touchscreen, 16M colors, while the Nokia 5630 XpressMusic is the only phone in this comparison that doesn’t feature a touchscreen. Nokia 5630 XpressMusic only uses 2.2 inches TFT, 16M colors. Winner: Samsung Omnia HD

Dimensions and Weight

Nokia 5630 XpressMusic is the slimmest and lightest phones compared to Idou (111 x 54 x 15 mm (approximately); 133 g) and Omnia HD (123 x 58 x 12.9 mm; 149 g). The Nokia 5630 dimension is 112 x 46 x 12 mm and weigh at 83 g. It is clear that the Nokia 5630 XpressMusic won the aspect.

Network

Sony Ericsson Idou and Nokia 5630 XM can work for HSDPA 900/2100 (Dual Band HSDPA), and Omnia HD can work for Triple Band HSDPA (900 / 1900 / 2100). And all of those phones except Omnia HD support HSCSD. So I guess the winner for this aspect goes to the Omnia HD

3G, HSDPA and HSUPA?

Yes, Sony Ericsson Idou, Samsung Omnia HD and Nokia 5630 XpressMusic is definitely phones for web lovers. First of all, the three phones support HSUPA. All of them also support HSDPA, but in different speed. The Sony Ericsson Idou uses HSDPA 3.6 Mbps, Omnia HD uses HSDPA 7.2 Mbps, and Nokia 5630 XpressMusic uses HSDPA 10.2 Mbps. Therefore the winner goes to the Nokia 5640 XpressMusic

Camera

Yap. No question about the winner in this part. The Sony Ericsson Idou is a superstar here. It got 12.1 Megapixel camera along with some nice features such as autofocus, xenon flash, face and smile detection, geo-tagging etc. But let’s check what the other competitor have… The Samsung Omnia HD features 8 megapixel camera along with more or less the same features with the Idou, and Nokia 5630 XpressMusic is left behind with a 3.15 megapixel camera.

Wi-Fi and Music

All of them has Wi-Fi… But what about the music part? can the XpressMusic fight with unlimited entertainment? Let’s check it out! Both Omnia HD and Nokia 5630 XM have a standard audio jack and stereo speakers and unfortunately Sony Ericsson Idou doesn’t. Surprisingly, Omnia HD have tied with the Nokia 5630 XpressMusic. Of course, it’s a personal opinion

Storage

There’s not much information about Sony Ericsson Idou’s storage till now (dont worry, I’ll update it), all I know is that Idou will have a MicroSD (TransFlash) card slot. Meanwhile, Samsung Omnia HD comes with 8/16 GB of internal memory and MicroSD (TransFlash) card slot that support up to 16 GB. Lastly the Nokia 5630 XpressMusic have 150 MB of internal memory and MicroSD (TransFlash) card slot that support up to 16 GB. Ok, so the winner goes to the Samsung Omnia HD…

Battery

Just like the storage information, the battery information of the Sony Ericsson Idou has not come to surface as well. Omnia HD’s battery information is also still blurred. All I can tell your right now is the Nokia 5630 XpressMusic battery that has Up to 400 h of standby time and up to 7 h of talktime. No winner for the moment.

Price

Well, for many people (including me), one of the most important aspect of a cell phone is its price :D .  But unfortunately, we still searching for the info. Please be patient and as soon as the information is available, you’ll see it here :D . But my prediction is (from cheap to expensive): Nokia 5630 XM, Samsung Omnia HD, Sony Ericsson Idou.

Design, Features, Performance

Well, everyone has their own taste, I know. And therefore I’m gonna use the voting result from our folks at GSMarena to capture people’s first impression about these phones.

Sony Ericsson Idou

  • Design: 8.5
  • Features: 8.5
  • Performance: 8.5

Samsung Omnia HD

  • Design: 8.5
  • Features: 8.6
  • Performance: 8.6

Nokia 5630 XpressMusic

  • Design: 7.5
  • Features: 7.9
  • Performance: 7.9

So there it is, the comparison between Sony Ericsson Idou vs Samsung Omnia HD vs Nokia 5630 XpressMusic. Which one is your fave? If you ask me, I would say that I will go for Omnia HD. Lots of features, nice (even though not best) camera, and nice music features. Internet connectivity is decent enough too…

Anyway, The Sony Ericsson Idou was announced along with the Sony Ericsson W995 (Formerly known as Hikaru). But in this post I will focus on the Sony Ericsson Idou. Why? Of course because Sony Ericsson Idou is much more interesting than the Sony Ericsson W995 Hikaru, since I heard nothing about the Sony Ericsson Idou specs and features (not even its codename) and its 12 megapixel camera before the Mobile World Congress.

Obviously, the Sony Ericsson Idou has an interesting specs and features, but as I said earlier, the Sony Ericsson Idou’s main attraction is the camera. Sony Ericsson Idou will pack a 12.1 megapixel camera with xenon flash, autofocus, face and smile detection, etc. Moreover, the Sony Ericsson Idou will boast a large touchscreen, 3.5 inches with 640×320 resolution, to be exact.
