The buzz about 12 Megapixel cameraphone has been around since last year, when Sony Ericsson announced their plan to reveal a 12 megapixel cameraphone this year. However, it seems that Sony Ericsson is passed by the famous Korean manufacturer, Samsung. Recently Samsung has officially announced the world’s very first 12 megapixel cameraphone that is commercially available called the Samsung Pixon12 (the official name is Samsung M8910 Pixon12).

So with all of its 12 megapixel glory, many people expected much of this cameraphone. That’s why I reveal this Samsung M8910 Pixon12 camera review; since we’ve talked about the specs and features of Samsung M8910 Pixon12 in the previous report.

Anyway, the first interesting thing about the Samsung Pixon12 camera is the wide-angle lens. It is not common for a cameraphone to have this feature. In fact, the only phone that has the features beside the Samsung Pixon12 camera is the Nokia N86 8MP. Maybe it’s gonna be a new trends :)

So the 12 megapixel cameraphone has a 28mm (in 35mm terms) wide-angle lens, which will give you roughly 20 percent larger angle of view when looking through the viewfinder.

Another spotlight is the image resolution and the flashes. It has a whooping 4000 x 3000 pixels. And the Pixon12 also got other important features in a cameraphone, which are the Xenon and LED Flash unit. Just in case you don’t understand what it means, it means that the Pixon12 has the extra light output in extreme darkness and the video light functionality that’s otherwise impossible with the xenon flash.

To protect the precious 12 megapixel lens camera; Samsung put an automatic lens cover. The cover is pretty solid and well-built.

Other interesting features of the Pixon12 camera are this list of camera-focused features:

  • Anti-shake digital image stabilization,
  • Geotagging
  • Viewfinder gridlines
  • Face detection
  • Smile shot
  • Blink detection
  • ISO Sensitivity for up to 1600

The Pixon12 also have a Smart auto mode which is similar to LG’s intelligent shot in the LG GC900 Viewty Smart. The camera features will allow users to get the best scene preset based on the object and the shooting condition

The big innovative thing in the Samsung Pixon12 camera is the tracking touch focus feature. So what is this actually? Well, basically all you need to do is hold your finger over the subject you want to focus on and watch as the crosshairs follows it on the viewfinder. Once you press the shutter key, it will focus on it and proceed to capture the actual shot.

So that’s it. The Samsung M8910 Pixon12’s camera review; a 12 megapixel cameraphone from Samsung. Bottom line is, this is definitely going to be a big hit among camera lovers :) Including me :)
