I bet some of you are wondering which one is the ultimate OS, is it the Windows 7 or the Apple iPhone 4 OS, the iOS 4 or the upcoming Android 2.2 Froyo. While we still haven’t got the Android 2.2 Froyo vs iOS 4, you might be interested on this comparison: iOS 4 vs Windows Phone 7. We will find out what is the difference between the iOS 4 and Windows Phone 7, and hopefully, we will discover which one is better.

In this Windows Phone 7 vs iOS 4 comparison there will be several aspects to be compared. Those are: UI (User Interface), homescreen, design concept, contact details aggregation, browser, multitasking, business tools. games, copy-paste ability and a bunch of other comparison. So without further ado, let’s just start the iOS 4 vs Windows Phone 7 comparison.

iOS 4 vs Windows Phone 7 UI (User Interface) Comparison

The Windows Phone 7 comes with a new UI, called Metro UI. It is somewhat similar with the iOS 4 UI, since it has a multi touch ability and it is nice flowing and snappy. I just wish that Microsoft could bring it faster.

iOS 4 vs Windows Phone 7 Homescreen Comparison

Again, the Windows Phone 7 and iOS 4 share the features. Both of the Homescreen are customizable, and got many shortcuts. The only difference is the look.

iOS 4 vs Windows Phone 7 Design Concept Comparison

Unlike the iPhone 4’s iOS 4 which is apps-oriented, the Windows Phone 7 focuses more on providing user an aid to do simple things

iOS 4 vs Windows Phone 7 Contacts details aggregation Comparison

This is the part where Windows Phone 7 stands out compared to iOS 4. iPhone 4 iOS 4 doesn’t have this feature. The Windows Phone 7 got the WebOS contact sync with social network and email accounts that are usually used in Palm phones.

iOS 4 vs Windows Phone 7 Browser comparison

In the browser comparison, Windows Phone 7 comes with native IE 7, while iOS 4 comes with the native Safari browser. However, in my personal opinion third party apps such as Bolt browser, or Opera Mini works better.

iOS 4 vs Windows Phone 7 Multitasking Comparison

Although Windows Phone 7 comes with multitasking support, but it is nowhere near the iPhone 4 and its iOS 4 multitasking ability. Moreover, the Windows Phone 7 mulitasking only supports 1st party apps. Perhaps in the future update the Windows Phone 7 will be able to put the multitasking ability for all apps, but until then, the winner is iPhone 4 and the iOS 4

iOS 4 vs Windows Phone 7 Games comparison

The both Windows Phone 7 and iOS 4 comes with a game support, and you can play online. The Windows Phone 7 has Microsoft Xbox Live and iOS 4 got the Games Center.

iOS 4 vs Windows Phone 7 Apps, Music and Entertainment Comparison

The Apple App store is hugely popular, with huge collection of apps. You can literally find any apps there. This is different with the Windows Phone 7, since they still building their own app store. That and added with competition from Android Market, it will take a while for the Windows Phone 7 to grow their own app store.

iOS 4 vs Windows Phone 7 Copy and Paste

The copy and paste in an OS is a crucial thing these days. Apple and its iOS 4 have managed to achieve that but the Windows Phone 7 haven’t.

I guess those are the notable comparison between the Windows Phone 7 vs iOS 4. It is clear that the Windows Phone 7 still needs some time to grow and catch up to iPhone’s iOS 4. So in this current iOS 4 vs Windows Phone 7 comparison, the winner is iOS 4. Congratulations, Apple.

For a phone geek like me, it is just usual for me to recognize these words: unlocked and jailbroken. And over the years I can see that the most popular device to get these treatments (unlock and jailbreak) is none other than the iPhone. The latest device to get the unlock and jailbreak treatments is the popular yet troublesome (remember the signal reception problem?) iPhone 4.

First let’s talk about the Jailbroken and Unlocked definition. Unlocked means that your iPhone 4 can now works on other GSM networks, besides the one it is banded with (AT&T, for instance). Meanwhile Jailbroken means that your iPhone 4 iOS 4 is modified and now you can install third party apps that are not approved by Apple.

The first person claiming to be able to unlock the iPhone 4 is Geohot, the same person who unlocked the first generation of iPhone. However, he indicated that he won’t release it. Now the second one is the MuscleNerd and PlanetBeing. Both of them claim that they have unlocked the iPhone 4, and as you can see from the picture above, the iPhone 4 is running Cydia (unapproved Apple iPhone Apps) while connected to Bell Canada. Sweet.

However, it seems that we won’t get the iPhone 4 unlock or jailbreak too soon. Perhaps they will give it to us after Apple upgrade the iOS 4 to iOS 4.1.

We are getting closer and closer to the actual release date of the iPhone 4 / iPhone 4G (some other believe that it will be either iPhone HD or Mammoth). The 4th generation iPhone was first seen over at the internet thanks to the incident at the bar with the iPhone 4 / 4G prototype, which ended up in Gizmodo’s hands. After that, Vietnamese blog has videos and pictures of the Apple iPhone 4 / 4G 16GB. And what we have today is the leaked predicted firmware of the iPhone 4; iPhone OS 4.

In the video below you will see the iPhone OS4 in action with a feature that AT&T has denied for a long time: Wi-Fi Tethering. Anyway, the original leaked iPhone OS 4 is again from Vietnam. Well, it looks like we still have to wait until the real deal is coming on WWDC 2010. Meanwhile, enjoy the iPhone 4 OS 4 in action below! Cheers.

There are two videos of the Beta version of iPhone OS 4.0. First one is iPhone OS 4.0 initial hands-on video, and the second one is the multitasking on iPhone OS 4.0. It’s a good ’snacks’ before the WWDC 2010 event (which probably will reveal the 4th generation iPhone, the iPhone 4G/ iPhone HD)

Without further yada-yada, here are the videos for you to enjoy. Cheers.

Here’s a statement from Apple on the software update:

We appreciate the information provided to us about SMS vulnerabilities which affect several mobile phone platforms. This morning, less than 24 hours after a demonstration of this exploit, we’ve issued a free software update that eliminates the vulnerability from the iPhone. Contrary to what’s been reported, no one has been able to take control of the iPhone to gain access to personal information using this exploit.

So download it and enjow a more save journey with your beloved iPhone

This kinetic scrolling have been waited by many Nokia 5800 XpressMusic lovers; and finally Nokia granted it and confirmed it at a recent Nokia Malaysia meet-and-greet session.

The firmware update will also enhance the home screen, improve the camera performance, and fix some bugs to make the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic more stable. Rumor buzzing over at the internet said that the firmware update will be available in the end of the summer. Hopefully.

This time Sony Ericsson XPERIA Rachael; or also known as the XPERIA X3 got a video preview. The Sony Ericsson XPERIA X3/Rachael’s video focuses on the preview of the X3’s User Interface (UI)

You might have known that the XPERIA X3 will use the latest Android version and what makes me excited is that it might be totally customized! That is very cool….

Aside of the Android OS, the XPERIA X3 also comes with 1 Ghz CPU and 8MP camera with many features. Well, for the complete list of the XPERIA X3 specs and features, just click on the link, will you? Anyway, the video after the break :)

Just a quick update: I just heard the buzz over at the internet saying that there will be a new firmware update for two Nokia devices, the Nokia E71 and Nokia E66. The firmware update version will be v.300.21.012 and it is available via NSU. No information about the change log, but soon I’ll update it :)

What’s hot right now? Well, it is the announcement of the iPhone OS 3.1 Beta last night. Soon after the official release of the iPhone OS 3.1 Beta; developers have been working (or should I say, playing) with the brand new iPhone OS 3.1 Beta. There’s no official information about the change log of the new iPhone OS 3.1 from iPhone OS 3.0; but some people have made a list of it. This list came from unofficial source, but I believe that the data is quite reliable :)

So here’s what’s new in the iPhone OS 3.1 Beta:

  • You can now trim a video clip in a saver way, in this case, the new OS 3.1 gives you the “Save as copy..” Option.
  • Options for MMS are back on AT&T, but not sending or receiving.
  • Voice Control now works over Bluetooth
  • Moving icons becomes interesting since now the iPhone will vibrates when you do that:)
  • Updated AT&T profile to 4.2
  • Updated modem firmware to 5.08.01
  • Improvements to OpenGL and Quartz
  • APIs to allow third party apps to access videos and edit them

So that’s about it. It’s kinda nice, huh? Good luck then, developers…. I wonder what’s the new OS looks like in the new iPhone 3G S
