Apple has just removed all videos about the non-iPhone 4 competitor’s death grip on the Apple iPhone 4 Antenna page. Previously we can find other smartphones death-grip demonstration videos such as Motorola Droid X and Nokia N97 Mini.
Not so long after the controversial iPhone 4 press conference (which demonstrated several non-iPhone 4 smartphones death grip), at least two of the competitor (Samsung and Motorola) have released their iPhone 4 death-grip-mocking ad, and you can see them here (samsung Galaxy S pays back iPhone 4) and here (Motorola Droid X pays back iPhone 4)
Apple then trough its spokesperson said that the removal is just a routine update. If you still want to see the videos, you can watch it on Youtube. Here’s the quote from the Apple spokesperson:
“We constantly refresh the content on Apple.com. If you’d like access to them, you can find them archived on YouTube.com/Apple.”
And of course, the Apple Youtube page consisted of those videos. But one can speculate, right? Is it the Apple’s first step to end the war with their competitors? Well, you tell me…
Now that the iPhone Jailbreak / Unlock is legal, many people is digging and waiting for the iPhone 4 jailbreak. This time, the iPhone 4 jailbreak has come thanks to Comex and company at the Jailbreakme. According to the web page, the jailbreak will work on iOS 4 of the iPhone 4 and other series of (3GS, 3G, etc) iPhone and iPad.
So before we go on, let’s talk about iPhone Jailbreak definition:
A jailbreak is simply the ability to run apps and use themes and tweaks not approved by Apple. Jailbreaking doesn’t slow down your device or use any extra battery, and is fully reversible (just restore in iTunes). A jailbreak lets your device be how you want it.
The iPhone jailbreaking process uses the iPhone’s Safari browser and it will break into most any iOS device. According to Engadget, they have tried the jailbreak process and got several result. The first one is they crashed the Safari and brick the iPhone, while the second one is a successful attempt. New updates on the iPhone Jailbreak is that iPads running iOS 3.2.1 aren’t presently working properly, and you might also get MMS issue.
[UPDATE] FaceTime doesn’t work after the iPhone Jailbreak… That’s a shame….

More and more options for iPhone 4 bumpers is now available. After the ironic End Call sticker and $10,000 cost fix for iPhone 4 death grip, Best Buy offers another iPhone Bumper alternative. The Best Buy’s iPhone 4 bumper alternative name is the Side Shields, and all iPhone 4 buyers will get them for free.
The Side Shields is basically a transparent shield for the outer edges of iPhone 4. Needless to say, it is the solution for the iPhone 4 death grip (antenna problem).
Previously Apple have made a statement that they will give away free bumpers and cases, but I think that the iPhone 4 bumper alternative side shields is a more interesting options, since due to the invisible properties of the shield, the Side Shields won’t change the overall iPhone 4 look.
For iPhone 4 owners who bought the iPhone 4 from stores beside the Best Buy and wants the iPhone 4 bumpers alternative Side Shields, you can also purchase it for a reasonable price of $9.99
Did you remember my post about how Samsung pay Apple back for the Steve Job’s demonstration in the iPhone 4 press conference? After samsung release a mocking ad campaign, now it is HTC who have just released another iPhone 4 death grip mocking ad (it’s a Motorola Droid X ad)
As you can see from the picture above, the Motorola Droid X ad said: “No Jacket Required”. They also added an explanation about the Droid X and why the costumer doesn’t have to use any jacket.
At Motorola, we believe a customer shouldn’t have to dress up their phone for it to work properly. That’s why the DROID X comes with a dual antenna design. The kind that allows you to hold the phone any way you like to make crystal clear calls without a bulky phone jacket. For us it’s just one of those things that comes as a given when you’ve been making mobile phones for over 30 years.
Is this “Apple iPhone 4 making fun” campaign will stop, or more company will join the campaign? What do you think about the Motorola Droid X ad?
Yesterday, finally the iPhone jailbreak and unlock process are legal, and it has bring joy to the jailbreaking community… However, Apple respond quickly and said that iPhone jailbreak will void warranty. So next time, they won’t cover the repair under warranty for a jailbroken iPhone.
According to our sources, up until now there’s as much as 10 million iPhones are jailbroken. Here is the Apple response on the legalization of iPhone jailbreak and unlock:
Apple’s goal has always been to insure that our customers have a great experience with their iPhone and we know that jailbreaking can severely degrade the experience. As we’ve said before, the vast majority of customers do not jailbreak their iPhones as this can violate the warranty and can cause the iPhone to become unstable and not work reliably.
When Apple was asked whether they will put charges to companies that offers jailbreaking software, the Apple spokesperson said that they haven’t done so in the past. This answer makes us wondering, will they put those charges?
Finally the process of iPhone jailbreak and iPhone unlock is now officially legal in the United States. The Electronic Frontier Foundation effort in pursuing the legality of the iPhone jailbreak and iPhone unlock has just been approved by the U.S. Government. The foundation requested the iPhone to be exempted from the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), and since the US government agree with them, then the iPhone jailbreak and iPhone unlock is now officially legal.
Previously, there were no clear laws that rule the iPhone jailbreaking and iPhone unlocking, and it has been a sensitive issue. It is a great news for all iPhone Jailbreaking and unlocking community in the United States.
However, Apple still insisted that things should go the other way. But now that the law is on your favor, you can freely jailbreak or unlock your precious iPhone, whether it is the iPhone 4, iphone 3GS or other future iPhones.
If you are not satisfied enough with the free iPhone 4 bumpers that Apple is giving away for free, and you’re also not into the ironic End Call alternative of the iPhone 4 bumper, you might like this. Well, if you have an extra $10,000 , that is.
Just recently Gresso offers to solve the iPhone 4 death grip problem by coating the iPhone 4 antenna band with a titanium Black PVD, so you can say good bye to iPhone 4 bumpers… And here is the part where it reaches the $10,000 mark: you also get a 200-year-old African wood back panel, and an 18-karat gold Apple logo that has a black diamond in it. Due to the exclusive black diamond, the name of this exclusive iPhone 4 is: Gresso Black Diamond. So welcome the luxurious iPhone 4, and good bye, death grip!
Checkout the picture below:
Pretty exclusive, shiny, and awesome, huh? However, if you are not interested to spend $10,000 to find the iPhone 4 bumpers alternative and fix your iPhone 4 antenna problem, go with the iPhone 4 bumpers alternative I have mentioned earlier in this post.
